You never quit on your music. No matter what happens. Because anytime something bad happens to you…it's the one place you can escape to and just let it go.
Sometimes the world tries to knock it out of you. But I believe in music the way that some people believe in fairy tales.
Maybe the notes that I hear are the same notes they heard the night they met. Maybe that's how they found each other. Maybe that's how they'll find me.
Nothing bad is gonna happen, you gotta have little faith.
The Pursuit of Happiness （《当幸福来敲门》）
"Well, because some things are fun the first time you do them and then not so much the next."
"Like the bus?"
"Yeah, like the bus."
I still remember that moment. They all looked so damn happy to me. Why couldn't I look like that?
How did he know to put the "pursuit" part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have it…no matter what.
"Chris. What would you say if a guy walked in for an interview without a shirt on and I hired him? What would you say?"
"He must have had on some really nice pants."
Don't ever let somebody tell you that you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream and you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.
The Kite Runner （《追风筝的人》）
A day is a miniature of eternity.
You can't love a person who lives that way without fearing him too.
Whatever's going on, you should deal with it before too long. Take care not to let these things fester. Time will only make it worse.
War doesn't negate decency.
Children aren't colouring books. You don't get to fill them with your favourite colours.
I dream that my son will grow up to be a good person, a free person. I dream that someday you will return to revisit the land of our childhood. I dream that flowers will bloom in the streets again and a kites will fly in the skies!
General opinion makes out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. Seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy but it's always there. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, none of the phone calls from people on board were messages of hate or revenge, they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.
"Later you'll drive me home?"
"Sure. It's my favourite time of day…driving you."
"It's the saddest part of my day, leaving you."
I know I seems an insane person because I hardly knows you, but sometimes things are so transparency, they don't need evidental proof.
And there is for me. She's the one. But you know the thing about romance is, people only get together right at the very end.
"You've seen the films, kiddo. It ain't over till it's over."
"Let's do it. Let's go get the shit kicked out of us by love."
Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss. But every once in a while, you find someone who's iridescent. And when you do, nothing will ever compare.
And the higher I got, the more amazed I was by the view. I began to notice how wonderful the breeze smelled, like sunshine and wild grass. I couldn't stop breathing it in filling my lungs with the sweetness smell I'd ever known.
A painting is more than the sum of its parts. A cow by itself is just a cow. A meadow by itself is just grass, flowers. And the sun peeking through the trees is just a beam of light. But you put them all together and it can be magic.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice to do the right thing.
Better late than never.
Sometimes a little discomfort in the beginning can save a whole lot of pain down the road.
Little Miss Sunshine（《阳光小美女》）
You know what a loser is? A real loser is someone who's so afraid of not winning, they don't even try.
"Sometimes I just wish I could go to sleep till I was 18 and skip all this crap-high school and everything - just skip it."
"So, if you sleep until you're 18, think of the suffering you're gonna miss. I mean, high school? Those are your prime suffering years. You don't get better suffering than that."
When he gets down to the end of his life and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered. Those were the best years of his life, 'cause they made him who he was.
No hesitating. No complaining. And no excuses. I want you to go out in the world and I want you to be winners! Thank you.
